Are you a foreigner expecting a child? You should consider pregnancy and childbirth insurance.
Are you a foreigner who has lived in the Czech Republic for a long time and are now expecting a child? It is time to consider pregnancy and childbirth insurance. Comprehensive Health Insurance for Foreigners includes pregnancy and childbirth insurance. For the payment of healthcare in connection with pregnancy and childbirth, a waiting period of eight months applies from the date of the commencement of the insurance, during which time the insurance does not cover pregnancy and childbirth. This can be avoided if supplementary Pregnancy insurance is taken out.
Supplementary Pregnancy insurance covers all maternity examinations of the future mother during pregnancy and childbirth. It also includes the costs of postpartum care for one or more newborns during their stay in the maternity hospital, up to the total limit for which the supplementary insurance is concluded. If this supplementary insurance was taken out during the pregnancy, the insurance covers the costs of healthcare according to the usual schedule from the beginning of the insurance.
However, after the birth, it is necessary for your baby to have their own insurance as soon as possible. If neither of the parents is Czech or they do not have public health insurance, it is necessary to insure the child, preferably by taking out the Comprehensive Health Insurance for Foreigners in the Baby variant, which also includes preventive health examinations for the child. Insurance can be arranged, for example, at our branch. As in some cases it is necessary for the pregnant mother to undergo a checkup before taking out the insurance, do not delay visiting the insurance company's branch office. Those interested in insurance must bring, for example, a medical report from their gynaecologist or a discharge report from a maternity hospital.
Finally, we would like to point out that if you do not have any insurance or you only have insurance for Necessary and Urgent Care, or your insurance does not cover childbirth, you must pay the costs of healthcare during childbirth and after childbirth out of your own pocket. In certain complicated cases, this can amount to hundreds of thousands of crowns. You should also think about the limit for which you will take out the insurance policy so that it provides adequate coverage of all the healthcare that will be provided. We are here with you.
