- Where can I find out in what flood zone is the building in question located?

This information will be provided based on the submitted address by the insurance advisor upon negotiating the contract or you can find it at the website of the Czech Insurance Association (http://www.cap.cz/en/calculators-and-applications/flood-maps).
- Why should I insure my real estate (house, apartment, garage or cottage)?

Insuring your house, apartment, garage or cottage will guarantee compensation for damages incurred by fire, lightning strike, vandalism etc. The insurance of a building includes the building parts as well as the outside access lines.
- What does the amount of the premium affect?

The amount of the premium is influenced by the amount of the insured sum, extent of insured risks, amount of excess, location of the insured site and a number of other things.
- If I insure my real estate with your company, does the insurance cover garden constructions, pools, fences including gates and wells?

Yes, the listed items are covered in the event of an accident up to the limit of CZK 50 thous., or you can alternatively cover them with additional insurance as adjacent constructions for higher insured amounts.
- Does the building insurance cover damage caused by theft?

Yes, if the theft concerns construction components, materials or equipment. The insurance base includes a limit of CZK 50 thous. which you can increase.
- Does the building insurance also cover damage caused by overvoltage?

Yes, Maxima insurance company factors in even these situations. The risk of overvoltage is included in the basic option with a limit of CZK 30 thous. If you wish, you can also insure the risk of overvoltage at a higher amount. The additional insurance coverage differs from the basic option in the amount of the insurance limit.
- When I have my real estate insured, can I also insure the damage caused by floods or flash floods?

It is possible but only as additional insurance. The basic insurance option does not cover floods or flash floods.
- Does the building insurance also cover things such as company plates and billboards?

No, this group of items is not covered by the building’s insurance.
- Which insurance should I select if I live in a cooperative apartment which is owned by a building cooperative?

In this case, you can set up only household insurance which covers the apartment furnishings.
- Can I ensure a real estate or an apartment under construction?

Yes, it is possible. Our building insurance protects your house from the very beginning to its completion and final inspection. The only condition is to situate it within the territory of the Czech Republic. If the building does not yet have an assigned address, it is necessary to fill in the contract with a plot number in cooperation with the insurance company headquarters.
- I am an owner of a family house and I live in one apartment, the second one I rent out. How can I insure my family house and both apartments (households)?

As the owner of a family house, you can insure the building and the household (which are in your ownership). You can insure both the property in your household as well as the household you are renting out. The tenant can then also insure the household but only the property which is in its ownership.
- I live in a cooperative apartment. Which insurance should I get?

The building cooperative is required to insure its cooperative apartments. In this case, you can set up only household insurance which covers the apartment furnishings.
- Can I ensure a detached garage located outside the house of residence?

The subject of the insurance may be even separately insured garages in private ownership, including all building components.
- How to proceed if the garage is part of a family house?

If the insured set up an insurance of the family house, the garage, as part of the family house, is incorporated in the insurance policy. The insured amount must correspond to the value of the family house including the garage.
- How may I amend the insurance policy?

You need to fill out the relevant application (Application for Change in Insurance Policy). Then, you may deliver the completed form to the insurance company’s address in several ways:

- Does the insurance also cover damage caused by birds, insects or rodents?

Yes, the insurance also covers animal-related damage to the insulated facade.
- Is there a deadline for the payment of the premium?

The premium must be paid within 30 days of receipt of the proposal. The insurance contract is valid as of the date stated in the proposal or the date following the premium payment. The insurance payment must be paid by the pre-set date.
- What documents must be submitted in order for the damage claim to be settled as smoothly as possible?

In order to settle the claim, please provide a completed and signed Damage Claim Report; in the event of damage, destruction or theft of property, the title deeds and the theft report protocol must be submitted; in the event of a theft or burglary, the resolution must be submitted. If possible, attach photo documentation of the damage and damaged property. Depending on the nature of the damage, the insurance company will inspect the claim.
- When should I report the damage?

The damage is best to be reported immediately after its occurrence.
- My real estate was flooded. Is it enough if I take photographs of the damage and start cleaning or do I need to wait for the insurance company representative’s visit?

The first step is to report the insured event and then arrange for further action in cooperation with the Claims Settlement Department.
- How can I terminate the insurance policy?

The policyholder may terminate the insurance on the date specified in the insurance policy or based on a written agreement of the parties thereof. The reasons for terminating the insurance policy and under what circumstances may it be done are provided in the applicable insurance terms and conditions.
